Did you know that our team members are Fear Free Certified? Do you know what Fear Free even means? Did you know Fear Free is even a thing?
We live in a very fast paced world and things change so rapidly it is often hard to keep up with everything but here at Companion Veterinary Healthy Center we try our best to be progressive and to keep up with the ever-changing times.
One way we did that this past year was to get our team members Fear Free Certified. It is amazing to think that years ago this was not even a “thing” but now it is. It is the goal of all of us here at the clinic to reduce the stress of coming to the veterinarian for your pet and even to reduce your stress of bringing your pet to us.
We have learned that people and pets both can have stress when coming to see us and we want you to know we are here to make it less stressful.
There are many factors and touch points that can increase stress when coming to the vet. You can have stress getting your cat into a cat carrier. You can have stress getting your dog into the car. Maybe your dog does not like other dogs and coming to the vet where others might be is just stressful to both of you.
Maybe your pet has been sick at home and you are concerned about the cost or what exactly is wrong with your beloved family member.
Whatever the case, talk about it with us. Let us know if you or your pet are stressed. We always say we can’t help if we do not know what the concern is. We have ways to cope with that stress for both you and your pet.
We have calming music you can play in your car to calm you and your pet down while enroute to us. You can use specific pheromones to calm your dog or your cat in the car too.
We use that same calming music here in the clinic to relax you and your pet. We also use the pet specific pheromones in our exam room and on ourselves, again to promote a relaxed environment for your pet.
We use specific restraining techniques with your pets. We use an acupressure type hold to calm them down at times. It can often look a bit scary to you but ask us and we will tell you how holding a cat properly sometimes can relax them.
We even have amazing pharmaceuticals to relax your pet. If you are concerned call us and talk to us ahead of your appointment. We have lots of helpful tips and tricks to promote and overall calming experience to the best of our ability.
